Dallas Cowboys 2014 Offseason

    Zitat

Just followed Marinelli into Valley Ranch complex. Still had all his Cowboys gear on. See if he still has it on at the end of the day.

  • Word of Muth: Elimination by Ben Muth
    http://www.footballoutsiders.com/word-muth/2014…uth-elimination

die O-Line Player in zahlen :

LT Tyron Smith "Terrific Tyron" (3. saison) alle spiele gemacht

1,5 Sacks Allwd und 4 penalty

    PFF analyse :

Left tackle Tyron Smith led all offensive tackles in fewest sacks allowed at one.

Smith was the only Dallas player selected by the AP on its All-Pro team

LG Ronald Leary (1. saison als starter) alles spiele gemacht

6 Sacks Allwd und 6 penaltys

    PFF analyse :

He’s not the worst run blocker in the world but Ronald Leary (-6.8) has given up far too much pressure for a guard

C Travis Frederick "Bull Moose" (rookie) alle spiele gemacht

3.5 Sacks Allwd und 3 penaltys

    PFF analyse :

Some might still say that the Cowboys reached for Frederick in the first round of this year’s draft but what should not be questioned is that (at least on first impressions) the Cowboys evaluation of his talent was spot on. There is still some work to be done to improve his pass protection (10 pressures surrendered this month and 24 for the season is too much for a center) but as a run blocker he was consistent for most of the season and had two month-long spells (+10.5, league’s best this month) where he was playing as well as any center in the league

    Grade: +13.2

    Snaps: 1,025

Analysis: Finished the season our seventh ranked center, and top of our positional run blocking rankings. The big problem was in pass protection where he had the fifth lowest grade of all centers, often struggling to anchor against bulrushes. He’ll need to work on that if he wants to take the next step to elite center.

Travis Frederick finished w/ the third-highest rating of the 32 first-round picks via @PFF behind Sheldon Richardson & Star Lotulelei.

RG Mackenzy Bernadeau (5.saison) 11 spiele gemacht

3 Sacks Allwd und 8 penaltys für 80 Yds.

    PFF analyse :

There was less competition for a spot on the right side but Bernadeau, who has quietly played pretty well this year, had himself another solid outing.

RT Doug Free (6. saison) alle spiele gemacht

6.5 Sacks Allwd und 6 penaltys (letzte sai. 13 pen.)

    PFF analyse :

Free has an overall grade for the season of +11.2. And even better news: He has gotten better every week, with weekly scores, in order of +2.3, +3.5, and +5.4. Just to add an even more optimistic note, his pass protection grades have been pretty much stable, with the improvement showing almost entirely in run blocking

    Offense (Rank)

    Yards: 5458 (16)

    Passing Yards: 3954 (14)

    Rushing Yards: 1504 (24)

    Points per game: 27.4 (5)

    Touchdowns: 45 (6)

    Zitat

One could easily make an argument the team’s most consistent, automatic player is their kicker, Dan Bailey, who just finished the final year of his contract by going 28-of-30 on field goals and nailing every kick from Week 5 on. He’s now set to become a restricted free agent.

“It’s been a great first three years here and I think it’s a great place to kick,” Bailey said. “It’s obviously a first-class organization, so I can’t really see any negatives to playing here. So yeah, I’d love to stay here if I could. We’ll just kind of see what happens. Hopefully I’ll be able to stick around a little longer.”

  • Gratulation an Jason Hatcher.

    Zitat

And now the Cowboys have three Pro Bowlers. And once again, it’s a first-timer headed to Hawaii.

But Jason Hatcher has been added to the Pro Bowl roster, replacing the spot of Baltimore’s Haloti Ngata, who will not play for injury reasons.

Hatcher is set to join Cowboys’ teammates Dez Bryant and Tyron Smith in the game.

Hatcher led all NFL defensive tackles in sacks last year with a career-high 11 as just edged out Tennessee’s Jurrell Casey with 10.5.

  • Monte Kiffin bleibt uns wohl erhalten. Link. Fans anderer Teams bemitleiden uns fast schon.

    Zitat

On Thursday, the Cowboys officially signed Bailey through the 2020 season, giving the kicker a six-year contract extension. Bailey was set to become a restricted free agent this year but the Cowboys bypassed all of that, giving him a deal that will pay Bailey a little more than $3.3 million per season. This deal makes Bailey the fifth-highest paid kicker in the NFL.

22,681,516mio plus 3,3 mio over the cap

Ach ja - I'm not the guy who says 'I told you so' but ... I TOLD YOU SO: Im Re-Draft von Don Banks ist Travis Frederick - der 'overdraftete höchstens 2nd Rounder' - nun auf Platz 20 der ersten Runde platziert worden. Also 11 Stellen bevor die Cowboys ihn tatsächlich nach Downtrade bekamen:

    Zitat

But Frederick, taken 31st by Dallas, was an even better find, and premium centers seem more difficult to find these days than premium guards. The Cowboys earned quite a bit of derision when Frederick's name was called on draft night, but the joke was on everybody but Dallas.

Tony Romo komplettes Gehalt restructure: Cap 11.7M statt 21M: -10M cap
DeMarcus Ware komplettes Gehalt restructure: Cap 7,4M statt 13,4 -6M cap
Witten komplettes Gehalt restructure: Cap 5,3M statt 8,4 -3.1M cap
Lee komplettes Gehalt restructure: Cap 3,6M statt 7,4 -3.8M cap
Scandrick komplettes Gehalt restructure: Cap 3,5M statt 6,6 -3.1M* cap
Miles Austin designated June 1st cut: -5.5M cap

    Zitat

Somehow the Dallas Cowboys continue to produce a soap opera despite owner and general manager Jerry Jones publicly stating that his entire coaching staff would remain intact for the 2014 season. In the latest episode, current offensive coordinator Bill Callahan is said to be upset at the prospect of former Detroit Lions OC Scott Linehan being hired to call plays for the Cowboys according to Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.

No one could blame Callahan for not being happy about the possible hiring of Linehan. Even is Callahan retained the title of offensive coordinator, taking the playcalling duties away from him would essentially be a demotion. Callahan is under contract for 2014 but there is speculation that he might try to leave the Cowboys (maybe to take the OC job in Cleveland?) if Linehan is hired. Of course, Callahan became the playcaller when Jerry Jones stripped head coach Jason Garrett of playcalling duties in 2013.

Garrett is said to be the person in the organization most unhappy about Callahan's performance in 2013, in which the Cowboys finished 16th overall in offense. Linehan is thought to be a compromise choice between Garrett and Jones.

  • Coin Toss gewonnen:

The Dallas Cowboys will pick 16th overall in the upcoming NFL draft after winning a coin toss early Wednesday morning, Aaron Wilson of the National Football Post reports.

The Baltimore Ravens will pick 17th after losing the coin toss to the Cowboys. Both teams finished 8-8 during the 2013 NFL season and had the same opponents' winning percentage.
